SUMMARY:In collaboration with the MHMC Infection Prevention Team
ensure Infection Prevention Practice for the MarinHealth Medical
Network as it realtes to Employee Health. Coordinates hospital and
network activities directed toward the surveillance, prevention and
control of infection to minimize the risk of acquiring new
infection for patients, staff, and community. Maintains compliance
with standards and regulations pertaining to infection control of
accrediting and governing authorities.JOB
SPECIFICATIONS:EDUCATIONOne required and / or ability to obtain
within assigned timeframe: RN, BSN Preferred a Masters in
Healthcare and CIC certificationEXPERIENCE Two (2) years of recent
experience in employee health and/or infection prevention. Two (2)
years' experience in the acute care or ambulatory clinic
settings.PREREQUISITE SKILLS:Required Understands basic medical
microbiology and the mechanisms for the transmission of infection.
Understands isolation precautions for infectious diseases.
Understands emerging infectious diseases and emergency management
as it pertains to infection prevention and control in employee
health. Ability to effectively collaborate with all leadership in
the Network and Hospital acute care, outpatient settings on
education, hand hygiene, and infection prevention and control
practices. Understanding of adult learning theory, management
theory and project or change implementation. Demonstrated oral and
written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to develop,
organize, and lead special projects. Ability to create reports, and
review or revise policies and procedures based on current
scientific evidence and/or best practice information. Ability to
effectively turn data into information needing to be presented to
varying audiences. Skills in data management, collecting,
analyzing, and presenting data to groups and individuals. Knowledge
of The Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, CalOSHA, and Title 22
regulations: specifically related to infection control, sharps
safety, blood borne pathogens, management of medical waste,
COVID-19, and PPE. Experience working with EVS on issues related to
cleaning procedures, cleaning products, laundry facilities,
education, training, and audits. Experience working with the Safety
department on emergency management issues. Ability to be innovative
and create new processes/programs within the department to address
HAI prevention. Ability to effectively interpret CDC, CDPH, and
Marin County Department of Health and Human Services guidance on
infectious diseases, including rapid changes pertaining to
COVID-19. Comfortable and confident presenting to large groups on
infection prevention and control issues, including interpreting
data, and new guidance.LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
Certification in Infection Control Preferred. If Registered Nurse -
must hold current California Registered Nursing License BLSPRIMARY

position description.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:ESSENTIAL (not
modifiable)Surveillance Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates
surveillance activities to identify incidence, trends and
variations in levels of disease or infection. Analyzes, reports
surveillance findings and develops appropriate plans, measures for
prevention. Oversight of employee health including prevention of
employee exposures and identifying and potentially treating exposed
employees. Ensures and/or reports infections/communicable diseases
to Public Health Department; works with local, state, and national
health agencies in the study and prevention and control of
infections.Consultation Serves as a resource to MHMN staff,
physicians, and to extended healthcare facilities in the ongoing
effort to minimize the risk of infection to patients and staff.
Disseminates current infection control information to MHMN staff
and physicians. Collaboratively designs educational programs with
the MHMN Clinical Operations and MHMC IP Team(s) to meet objectives
required in the Infection Prevention and Control Plan. Works to
minimize costs associated with occurrence and the prevention of
infection.Prevention Provides infection control, prevention
in-services, and other related infectious disease education to all
areas of the organization and the community. Works collaboratively
with Departments to identify and minimize the risk of infection
resulting from work activities within their areas. Assists
department leadership in designing and monitoring systems to comply
with standards and regulations pertaining to infection control.
Assists departments in implementing prevention initiativesControl
Employee Health oversight including annual flu clinic and any other
employee vaccine clinics. Employee Health/Provider/Volunteer
Screening for TB-QFT New Hire Clearances Liaison with HR and
Contracted Occupational Health Services (Kaiser On-the-Job San
Rafael). Performs Infection Prevention Site Visits for the Hospital
outpatient centers including those under the Network. Oversees and
manages the process during outbreaks of infection, including
documentation and reporting of actions and results.Program
Management Works independently to manage an organization-wide
program. Collaborates with leaders and managers to implement
Infection Prevention and Control activities at the departmental
level. Manages sensitive or confidential information appropriately.
Responsible for developing and implementing the infection control
plan annually, as well an annual evaluation of the plan.
Investigates, analyzes, and recommends products to reduce
infections in patients and to reduce risk of infection transmission
to staff. Stays current with the most up-to-date scientific
research and legislation. Appropriately applies knowledge and
skills to achieve desired program outcomes. With the IP Team and
Leadership facilitates organizational compliance with Infection
Prevention and Control standards of The Joint Commission, CDPH,
OSHA, CMS, and NHSN and other regulatory agencies. Provides and
documents the education of all personnel in infection prevention
and control practices. Attends meetings on a regular basis with the
infection prevention and control team.SECONDARY (modifiable)
