in Pleasanton, CA, the DataOps Scrum Master'sprimaryrole
isfacilitation, coaching, removing impediments, and ensuring the
Scrum framework is understood and enacted.Foundational AI/ML
Concepts (Conceptual Understanding Needed):
- ML Lifecycle:Familiarity with the typical stages:
- Business Understanding & Problem Framing
- Data Acquisition & Preparation (Cleaning, Wrangling, EDA)
- Feature Engineering
- Model Selection & Training (Experimentation)
- Model Evaluation (Understanding key metrics like accuracy,
precision, recall, F1, AUC, RMSE, etc., conceptually)
- Model Deployment (Putting the model into production)
- Model Monitoring & Retraining
- Types of Machine Learning:Awareness of the main categories
(Supervised, Unsupervised, Reinforcement Learning) and potentially
specific areas the team works on (e.g., NLP, Computer Vision,
Recommendation Systems, Time Series Forecasting, Generative
AI).
- Key ML Challenges:Understanding common issues like data quality
requirements, data bias, overfitting/underfitting, model drift, the
need for large datasets, and explainability (XAI).
- Training vs. Inference:Clearly distinguishing between the
process of building the model and using the deployed model to make
predictions on new data.This position is responsible for
cultivating team expertise in Agile/Scrum methodologies, enabling
them to effectively translate features into actionable artifacts,
including user journeys, user stories, product specifications, and
non-functional requirements. The role demands proactive
identification and removal of dependencies and blockers across
teams and systems, while encouraging robust communication and
ensuring appropriate escalation of risks and issues to facilitate
successful feature releases and continuous improvement of team
delivery and behavior.We are looking for a Scrum Master who is
passionate about driving continuous improvement in digital product
delivery. This candidate will have a strong understanding of agile
principles and a proven ability to foster collaborative teamwork
across multiple product teams and external partners. They will
provide effective guidance and leadership, ensuring consistent
improvement in communication and delivery patterns, and thrive in a
fast-paced, self-organized setting.Duties / Responsibilities:
- Agile Advocate: The Scrum Master must know and constantly
evolve their expertise of Scrum and Agile guidelines and
methodologies. This role will be accountable for adhering to scrum
principles while ensuring teams are following, improving, and
adjusting Agile practices to deliver high-quality digital products.
- Collaboration Coach: A great Scrum Master must not only know
what to do but must bring everyone along and reinforce the why and
the how. As a coach, the Scrum Master will encourage their
teammates to work together, improve their hard skills but more
importantly their soft skills to maximize the potential of the
team.
- Impediment Eliminator: As a servant-leader the Scrum Master
will live within the scrum team, using their observation and
experience to identify risk, dependencies, and impediments. More
importantly, they will maintain a wide-angle view to identify
cross-team dependencies and system-wide blockers.
- Retrospective Facilitator: The Scrum Master will facilitate
retrospective for their teams by setting the stage and creating an
open environment in which the team can collaborate and discuss
ideas to help the team reach its goals. They must carefully ask
powerful and sometimes pointed questions to encourage discussion
and provide perspective. Through structured facilitation the Scrum
Master will win the crowd by listening to understand instead of
listening to act, ultimately growing a strong team.
- Measurement Maker: If we can't measure it, we can't improve it.
The Scrum Master is responsible for the team's use of Jira to track
the priorities of the team, opportunities for improvement and
ensure the team is improving their estimation and predictability.
The role will teach our teams how to measure and improve
performance over time, using data to inform decision making and
prioritization.Required Qualifications:
- Significant experience in leading teams/organizations in
bringing high quality digital products to market across mobile,
desktop, or both
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in digital
product environments, with at least 2 years in a full-time Scrum
Master capacity.
- Bachelor's degree required
- Scrum Master Certification
- Experience with JIRA/Confluence or similar Agile collaboration
toolsDesired Requirements:
- Certification in SAFe is a plus
- Previous experience as a product owner or engineer is a plus
but not required
- Knowledge of procurement in general is a plusFor this role, the
estimated base salary range is between $121,000 - $149,000 USD. The
actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including
market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during
the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and
the base salary range for this role may be modified.
