Position Summary

The primary responsibility of the role will be to prepare SEC filings and further develop reporting for this rapidly growing organization. This position will participate in a variety of activities including accounting research, general ledger responsibilities, review of equity awards, financings, and providing accurate and timely financial data for quarterly public reporting.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who has the ability to execute multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic, evolving accounting environment. Candidate should remain open to new projects and/or responsibilities as the business evolves.

Responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Preparation of the Form 10-K, 10-Q and financial information related to the quarterly earnings releases, including all relevant support, and managing comments from internal management and external auditors to ensure timely filings.
  • Prepare and/or coordinate detailed work papers to support disclosures included in financial statements and SEC Filings (e.g., footnotes, MD&A, business overview updates)
  • Assist with the preparation of other SEC and statutory filings (e.g., 8-K, S-3, S-8, Proxy).
  • Prepare financial statement close process workpapers such as Cash flow, Earning Per Share, Equity rollforward.
  • Responsible for the preparation of certain routine close processes, such as recording accruals and journal entries for assigned departments and areas
  • Assist with the stock administration process, including coordinating with the stock administrator consultant and HR, reviewing employee equity awards, and assisting with communications to employees regarding their equity compensation.
  • Responsible for ASC 718 stock compensation and equity accounting, including stock-based compensation, expense calculation and assumption evaluation.
  • Coordinate, collect and manage feedback from management, attorneys, external auditors, audit committee and the printer to ensure timely SEC filings.
  • Assist in preparing management reports, fluctuation analyses and other deliverables as part of the monthly accounting close package.
  • Research new accounting standards and technical issues; analyze their relevance for and impact to the company.
  • Assist with the coordination of external and internal auditors and act as a liaison for the finance team.

Technical Requirements & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in an accredited accounting program and CPA required
  • Minimum of five (5) or more years of progressive experience in both public and industry accounting preferred, of which four or more years must be in public accounting, preferably with a big four firm serving publicly traded companies
  • Excellent knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations is required
  • Ability to research and propose resolutions on complex accounting issues
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with various individuals across multiple departments
  • Strong attention to detail, decision-making, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Life science / biotech experience a plus
  • Oracle or similar ERP experience a plus
