Position Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated molecular and cellular biologist with advanced microscopy experience to technically and strategically support pre-clinical translational research programs investigating therapeutics for rare diseases. Responsibilities include independent planning and execution of experimental work, data analysis, detailed record keeping, and independent presentation of material at team meetings. The candidate will provide technical support and oversight of tissue analyses from in vitro and in vivo studies including, but not limited to, basic histology, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and other cell-based assays. An ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment is key, as the candidate will be expected to contribute to strategy and experimental execution across a variety of treatment modalities (such as small molecules, protein therapeutics, nucleic acid therapeutics and gene therapies) and disease models.

You Will:
Bench support for histology including processing of FFPE and frozen tissue specimens on slides and free floating. Support would include immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and standard histological stains such as H&E, Nissl, and Golgi staining. Provide hands-on support for various scientific projects using techniques involving cell-based, molecular and biochemical assays. Contribute to pre-clinical pipeline development by self-directed use of literature and critical evaluation to inform project strategies, implement experimental methods, and identify potential new projects Collaborate on different projects with technical or strategic expertise Mentorship of Research Associates and Senior Research Associates Demonstrate curiosity and creative desire to answer scientific questions Technical and written contributions to generate manuscripts, technical reports and patent applications Contribute to target identification and/or validation as well as drug discovery processes Contribute to search, evaluation and due diligence of new opportunities as it relates to business development. Lead pilot or early-stage pipeline projects as needed Maintain detailed and up-to-date documentation Effective and clear communication with regular verbal and formal project updates to project teams and internal stakeholders
You Have:
Level commiserate with education and experience PhD with 4+ years of experience (may include post-doctoral experience) or MS with 10+ years of experience Experience and proficiency with quantitative image analysis programs Advantages, but not requirements, include experience in neuroscience, gene therapy, and/or nucleic acid therapy Proficiency with all steps of tissue procurement and processing for IHC and ISH Proficiency with light and fluorescent microscopy Highly skilled in the utilization of a variety of biochemical, cellular and molecular biology techniques such as Western Blotting, PCR, Quantigene, live cell imaging and introduction of nucleic acids by transfection/transduction/electroporation into cultured and primary cells Time management and organizational skills to enable support of multiple projects Ability to work independently and collaboratively as the project requires Excellent written, communication and presentation skills High level of initiative, enthusiasm for learning new skill sets and ability to work in a cross-functional/matrixed research environment. Drug discovery and biopharmaceutical experience will be considered a plus #LI-CV1
