Our restaurant operates with Directors overseeing each department: Front of House Operations, Back of House Operations, and Training and Development. We believe part of what makes our leadership team unique is that we enjoy working alongside our team, so expect to be in operations and on your feet for long periods of time (an average of 9-10 hours per shift). This position is also expected to work between 40 and 50 hours per week, and during that time you'll have opportunities to break away and work on non-operational tasks that will ultimately provide stability, guidance, and structure for your team to thrive and benefit from. Kitchen Director (Back of House)

This roles main objective is to lead initiatives and produce positive results in the following measurable areas:

  • Produce Labor schedule for back of house each week (weekly shifts, time off requests, availability changes)

  • Own and influence Restaurant Overall Cleanliness score

  • **Embody our customer service model through leading and tracking the Attentive & Courteous Employee score

  • Increase Speed of Service

  • Positively influence food cost

  • Positively influence paper cost

  • Organize paper and perishable inventory

  • Work closely with other leaders including Director of Training and Development and Director of Front of House

  • Lead and train other on effective operational structure

  • Oversee time punches for your team

  • Facilitate or help with Quality Visits surrounding food safety and quality, environment safety, and customer service

  • Track and provide proactive feedback for hiring needs

  • Conduct a portion of the end of month inventory count

  • Manage and implement monthly repairs and maintenance budget

  • Open and close at least one shift per week (opening shifts start at 6:00AM and closing shifts end at 11:30PM)

General Leadership Tasks & Expectations

  • Encourage and affirm Team Members day in and day out

  • Show consistent performance, accountability, and reliability

  • Set up and organize the operational structure for each shift

  • Ensure all breaks are run according to California requirements and the needs of the business

  • Know and perform all operational tasks to Chick-fil-A Novato standards

  • Teach Team Members the standards of Chick-fil-A Novato

  • Execute leadership responsibilities including all beginning of day or end of day financial tasks

  • Lead with excellent customer service and empower team to go above and beyond guest requests and expectations

  • Facilitate team huddles to communicate team objectives

  • Open or close the restaurant and execute cleanliness and preparation for the following shift

  • Lead team to perform team member tasks including customer service, speed of service, order accuracy, and 2MS

  • Restocking using the FIFO method (first in, first out)

  • Ensure that all perishable products are properly labeled according to state and federal requirements

  • Be able to take and fulfill catering orders

Please note:

  • There is a 90 training and evaluation period as a Team Member before you would fully step into the position of Kitchen Director. This is an opportunity for you to provide exemplary work ethic, leadership skills, initiative, curiosity for your craft, and team chemistry before taking on store leadership responsibility at the highest level. During this time you'll still be compensated according to the amount listed above.

  • The role task outlines above are subject to change as the business continues to grow

  • Health benefits go into effect immediately after the 90 day training and evaluation period is completed

Preferred Requirements:

  • Two years in a leadership role within the hospitality or quick service industry

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as how to fully utilize Google Drive and cloud-based development platforms.

  • Able to stand on your feet for 8-10 hours per day, on average.
