Primary Therapist Flexible days - 8a - 4:30p

Position Summary The Primary Therapist is a key member of the clinical treatment team. The primary therapist meets at least twice weekly with each client for individual therapy sessions focusing on the underlying psychological issues that contribute a clients alcohol and substance use as well as family and relationship problems. The Primary Therapist uses a variety of clinical interventions to help clients develop increased awareness of personal underlying issues and promotes emotional and behavioral changes that will enhance the clients life satisfaction and social and emotional functioning. The Primary Therapist also provides groups in the weekly curriculum and provides clinical leadership. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Primary Therapist for a caseload of up to six clients Facilitate at least two individual therapy sessions per week for each client Conduct treatment groups as assigned each week including process groups and groups on recovery, coping skills, and mental health topics Collaborate with treatment team members to establish an individualized treatment plan for each client per company policy Update treatment plans as assigned and per company policy Participate actively in treatment team discussions regarding progress in treatment, current treatment recommendations, continuing care recommendations, and pass and visitor requests. Maintain clinical documentation in the companys electronic health record (EHR) in accordance with company policies and procedures that meets or exceeds relevant legal, ethical and accreditation standards Communicate with key treatment stakeholders (family, friends, loved ones, referents, other professional treatment providers, etc.) as needed or assigned Perform crisis intervention and management as needed or assigned including risk assessments (e.g., danger to self or others), de-escalation, and completion of behavioral contracts Conduct family and/or couple's therapy sessions as needed or assigned Actively participate in Family Program Participate in weekly treatment team, continuing care, and any other assigned staff meetings Provide regular updates of work with clients to Clinical Team and other relevant staff Contribute to the team determination of appropriate DSM/ICD diagnoses Always interact compassionately and professional with clients, families, visitors, and other staff Complete assessments of substance use, symptomatology, mental health disorders, personality and interpersonal styles, and possible neuropsychological and cognitive difficulties as needed or assigned Demonstrate familiarity with emergency procedures and the location and operation of various emergency equipment Maintain valid professional licensure and assigned certifications (e.g., CPR, First Aid) Participates in activities needed to support the management functions of the team

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Masters or Doctorate Degree in relevant field

A minimum of 2 years of related experience (designing individualized treatment programming; monitoring and observing behavior; collecting and recording behavioral observations in a treatment setting; developing and implementing behavior management plans; assisting with the administration and scoring of intelligence, personality and/or achievement and skills tests; demonstrated understanding of addiction and recovery principles) Ability to understand the characteristics of a wide range of intellectual disabilities Must have a strong counseling background, the ability to create and implement functional treatment plans and the ability to build relationships Valid license or license eligible in the State of California Must have current CPR and First Aid certifications Must have a current negative Tuberculosis results clearance Demonstrated ability in dealing directly with clients

Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Work involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of force greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
