BioMarin's Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin's cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients. SUMMARYThis position is responsible for the procurement and planning of raw materials used in commercial and clinical manufacturing in Novato, CA. Other areas of focus include supplier management, sourcing, supply risk management, spend analytics, MRP utilization and troubleshooting.RESPONSIBILITIESMaterials Planning/ForecastingDetermine order requirements thru use of ERP system and other electronic reporting tools (spreadsheet MRP, consumption, planned vs actual)Assign item master purchasing and planning attributes for buy itemsPurchase Order ManagementManage the entire purchase order process including appropriate documentation, data entry, submission, order expediting, and reconciliation of related issuesRequest for ProposalDevelop, execute, and review RFI/RFP/RFQsIdentify and secure BioMarin utilization/spend information from internal and external sources for use in the bid processFacilitate/assist the development of requirements and scope of work documents, and establishes decision-making criteria based on user needsAnalysisProvide professional summaries and recommendationsConduct opportunity/cost analysis and comparative bid analysisSkillful at using a variety of tools and source documents to strategize and develop meaningful information for management and internal customersEfficiency/InnovationSuccessfully negotiate single transactions and longer term commitmentsNegotiate terms/pricings as appropriate for the product category and supplierIdentify opportunities for innovation in processes or goods/servicesPeriodic participation in various cross functional team meetings (new product core teamsSupplier ManagementMonitor/manage individual supplier performance and report outcome to suppliers and BioMarin employees as appropriateIssue requests for root cause investigation/corrective/preventive action for non- conforming materialsConduct periodic supplier business reviewsParticipate in supplier quality audits as appropriateSupply / Quality AgreementsIdentify potential suppliers for an established agreementLead efforts with initial phase contract negotiations of supply/business termsMonitor contract workflow processSupply Risk ManagementIdentify and establish alternate/secondary sourcesIdentify /implement vendor managed inventory programs as appropriateIdentify impact of supplier raw material change notificationsSCOPEThis position is responsible for managing daily planning and procurement of materials to support BioMarin commercial and clinical manufacturing operations with minimum level of supervision. The position will exercise independent judgment and initiative.
