The health and safety of our employees and prospective employees take priority which means at this time ourapproachwill includevideo discussions, interviews, andonboarding.Position SummaryultracuriousApply your biggest ideas in courageous waysThe Associate Director, Publication Planning will be responsible for the successful development and tactical execution of publication plans across one or more programs in alignment with data generation plans and lifecycle strategies and in compliance with SOPs, publication guidelines, and company goals. The Associate Director, Publication Planning will manage the publication plan(s), and serve as the primary contact for publication activities in collaboration with a cross-functional group, including Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Biometrics, Pharm/Tox, Research, and other relevant functions. The core duties of the Associate Director, Publication Planning are delineated below.Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:Lead publication strategy, planning, and execution for one or more Ultragenyx products, Ultragenyx Gene Therapy products, and pipeline publication plansDevelop specific publication plan(s) for assigned products and programs and manage execution of the publication plansServe as the point of contact for publication-related activities and communication of the publication strategy to senior leadershipCollaborate with internal writing teams and/or manage external writing agencies and consultants to develop timelines and drive the timely execution of writing/creating, reviewing, approving, and submitting publicationsInteract with external authors and investigators to provide publication support and ensure compliant development of company-sponsored publications Ensure publications are developed in compliance with company guidelines and SOPs as well as industry guidelines and standards (ICMJE, GPP, etc)Manage congress abstract planning and execution for abstract submissions and poster/oral presentation development and ensure communication, collaboration, and alignment of the congress activities being planned across functions (and teams, for a meeting where multiple programs are represented)Liaise with relevant corporate functions and partner(s), as applicable, to ensure appropriate communication of publications-related activities including manuscripts and congress abstracts/posters/presentationsSupport publication budget planning and managementRequirements:BS, MS, or doctorate in a scientific or medical field Solid experience (>5 years) in publication management in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry preferredProven success with leading and managing medical writing agencies as well as track record for consistently meeting or exceeding quantitative targetsExperience working with a medical writer on preparing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals as well as abstracts, posters, and slide decks for presentation at scientific congressesGood understanding of applicable publications-related guidelines as well as legal, regulatory, compliance, and clinical/medical affairsExperience with project managementSuccessful and superior influencing skills across all levels of the organization and external collaboratorsExceptional oral and written communication skillsUnderstands and effectively responds to multicultural communication styles and business practices with alliance partners and internal colleaguesFlexible; adapts work style to meet organization needsStrong organizational abilities and experience in a multitasking environmentMotivated, self-directed, and able to work autonomously and in team settings to meet aggressive organizational goalsExperience in successfully engaging with cross-functional product teams in a highly matrixed settingDedication to quality and reliabilityExcellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Power Point, Adobe Illustrator, figures and graphic design; Project and Visio a plus)Ability to build and maintain effective partnerships, both internally and externallyHolds self and others accountable for adherence to high ethical standards; adopts and maintains the utmost integrity and respect for colleagues at all levelsFamiliarity with publication planning and management software preferred#LI-CS2#LI-REMOTE#LI-7Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical is an equal opportunity employer & prohibits unlawful discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin/ancestry, age, disability, marital and veteran status.
