Position Summary:

The Research Associate I, Pharmacology/Toxicology (In Vivo Core) is to provide hands-on in vivo support to research and development programs. The RAI should possess a background in science, lab work, biology or previous experience as a veterinary technician.

Work Model:

Core Lab & Ops: majority of the work requires being in the office or laboratory either pre, during or post pandemic.

Responsibilities:

  • Help with target and drug discovery efforts at Ultragenyx by performing in vivo studies across a range of rodent models to support the advancement of research leads and potential drug candidates targeting rare and ultra-rare diseases
  • Help with in-house breeding, weaning, genotyping, health surveillance, and help with general oversight of animal colonies
  • Keep records of experiments and results
  • Provide high-quality data promptly to facilitate data-driven decision-making
  • Prepare stock chemical solutions, relevant test articles, tube labeling and other lab tasks as assigned
  • Conscience of cost-effective maintenance of supplies and department budget
  • Ensure compliance with AUP and IACUC guidelines

    Requirements:
    • HS Diploma with 1+ years of experience in small animal field or BS in Science related field with 0 years of relevant experience
    • Animal handling experience to dose rodents, collect blood from rodents, perform necropsy tissues collections
    • High level of enthusiasm and ability to work in teams with some guidance
    • Occasional weekend, overtime, and holiday work is required; requires flexible work schedule to accommodate program priorities
    • Must pass Health Surveillance exam at Kaiser and online IACUC tests before working
