Job Description Job Description GENERAL PURPOSE Under the
administrative supervision of the Program Director or designee,
this position is responsible for providing psychosocial,
rehabilitation, and recovery-oriented services for adults.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is an at-will direct service
position within a program. The position is responsible for
counseling and aiding clients and families requiring assistance in
dealing with substance abuse problems, such as alcohol or drug
abuse. Functions as a Personal Service Coordinator for a case load
of dually diagnosed clients. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
– (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY) The duties listed below are intended only as
illustrations of the various types of work that could be performed.
The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them

assignment to this class. Assists clients in identifying and
progressing toward their chosen goals. Advocates for clients in all
areas of treatment and helps them apply for and receive services.
Provides prompt intervention in the event of a crisis, both to stop
the crisis and to notify, when indicated, persons and agencies
necessary for the resolution of the situation. Interviews clients,
reviews records, and confers with other professionals. Formulates
program for treatment and rehabilitation of client, including
facilitation of support groups. Counsels clients individually and
in group sessions to assist clients in overcoming alcohol and drug
dependency. Counsels family members to assist the family in dealing
with and providing client support. Refers client to other support
services as needed, such as medical evaluation and treatment,
social services, and employment services. Monitors the condition of
the client to evaluate the success of therapy, and adapts treatment
as needed. Prepares and maintains reports and case histories.
Formulates and conducts programs to promote the prevention of
alcohol and drug abuse. Safely transports clients and other
passengers to and from appointments and activities, and other
program business relevant to the position using own personal
vehicle. Drives on agency business using personal vehicle; may be
required to transport clients, equipment, protected health
information (PHI), and/or confidential personnel or TPCP agency
information. Provides support and training for other staff members
as needed. Adheres to and upholds the policies and procedures of
Turning Point Community Programs. Attends staff meetings unless
approval for non-attendance is secured from the Team Leader or
Program Director. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS &
LICENSES Education, Training, and Experience: A typical way of
obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is
through the possession of a CADAC license and varied experience
working with dually diagnosed adults (substance abuse and
psychiatric disability). Licenses; Certificates; Special
Requirements: Valid CADAC license California driver’s license &
current vehicle insurance/registration if driving; and, Reliable
means of transportation capable of passing vehicle safety
inspection if more than five years old, excluding all modes of
two-wheeled transport, inclusive of bicycles, mopeds, and
motorcycles. Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.
